Outcomes
- Robot and vision tasks coordinated with the machine PLC and motion system
- Repeatable handling, assembly and dispensing
- Inspection and presence checks integrated into the machine sequence
What is involved
Adding a robot or vision system is rarely just a hardware purchase. The robot’s cycle must fit the machine’s cycle, handshakes with the PLC must be robust, safety must be designed in, and operators need a straightforward way to recover from faults.
NSPL’s robotics and vision work covers application analysis, selection of robot and sensing technology, programming of robot motion, interfacing with PLC and motion controllers, safety integration, commissioning and training.
Robot integration is frequently part of a machine automation project or a retrofit where an older robot controller is no longer supported.
Typical applications
- Pick-and-place and handling cells
- Gluing and dispensing along a programmed path
- Assembly, storage and retrieval systems
- Product presence, orientation and code-reading checks
Frequently asked questions
Can a robot be added to an existing machine?
Often, yes. The key questions are the available space and reach, safety guarding, the cycle time budget and how the robot controller will exchange signals with the existing PLC. NSPL assesses these before recommending a robot or vision solution.
